National Pet Fire Safety Day 2019

It's estimated that 500,000 pets are injured in household fires each year. National Pet Fire Safety day was created in order to help bring awareness to pet owners and offer preventative measures that can be taken. After all, most of us consider our pets to be family! An important part of being a responsible pet owner includes pet-proofing your home, alerting rescuers of pets in the home with a window sticker, and developing a pet-friendly escape route.

Here are a few tips for pet owners on fire safety from the American Kennel Club:

  1. Extinguish Open Flames
  2. Pet-proof your Home
  3. Secure young pets
  4. Keep pets near entrances
  5. Practice escape routes with pets often
  6. Use monitored smoke detectors
  7. Put a sticker on your window
  8. Keep your information updated

Laurie Rea- Operations Manager On-Site Volunteering

As the Christmas season approaches our family here at SERVPRO Farmington and Farmington Hills volunteered on behalf of the Honorable Order of the Blue Goose - Detroit Puddle to help the Goodfellows Fund of Detroit fulfill their statement of "No Kiddie Without a Christmas."

We, along with other volunteers, packaged Christmas boxes specific to girls and boys of all different age groups. We added toys, coloring materials, stickers, clothing, etc to the boxes to ensure the kids they go to enjoy a wonderful Christmas present.

The Goodfellows Fund of Detroit helps so many families and children throughout the year and specifically during the Holiday season. Volunteering for them and alongside their staff was such an honor for our staff here!

During this Holiday Season reach out and see who you may be able to help in some way!

Capuchin Soup Kitchen Charity Event Flyer - Coats for Kids Drive

SERVPRO of Rochester, SERVPRO of Farmington & Farmington Hills and Classic Cleaners (a local dry cleaning restoration company) have joined forces to support a great community event for the Blue Goose International, Detroit Puddle.  The Blue Goose is a fraternal organization of individuals who work in the insurance related industry.  The group consists of home office executives, field claim representatives, auditors, underwriters, general adjusters, insurance agents, brokers, investigators, contractors, appraisers and many other individuals.  The Blue Goose hosts many fundraising events to generate money for charity.  SERVPRO of Rochester and SERVPRO of Farmington & Farmington Hills are excited to support this event for the second year to help the less fortunate children in the Metro Detroit area.

The Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit Michigan is holding a coat drive.  We are asking for New Coats, Hats or Gloves.  This our second year supporting this cause.  In addition to being a drop off site, we are also volunteering our time on December 20, 2015 at the Capuchin Soup Kitchen located on 6333 Medbury in Detroit Michigan.  If you are interested in helping out for this great cause, please drop off coats, hats, and gloves at SERVPRO of Farmington & Farmington Hills.  Our address is 31168 W. 8 Mile, Farmington Hills, MI  48336

Social Media for Business Workshop

Our contents and cleaning warehouse was transformed into a classroom for this education event.

SERVPRO of Farmington & Farmington Hills hosted a Social Media for Business workshop.  This event was the largest to date for the Women's Business Committee of Farmington Area Chamber of Commerce.

A note from the Farmington Area Women's Business Committee:  Thank you for allowing our Women's Business Committee to have the "Social Media for Business" event at SERVPRO.  Angela has been a pleasure to work with and she speaks highly of you and the organization.  Please let me know if there is anything we can do for you.

Hosting this particular event was a great way to bring people in from the community into our business so they could learn more about what we do and how we operate. We offered a short tour of the warehouse after the speakers were finished presenting and allowed for any questions regarding our business.

It is important to be involved in your community and to open your business to hosting events, social gatherings, etc, to allow residents and other business professionals to connect with each other and with you.
